CitiLab was created as a place for reflection and action on the future of cities in the face of sustainability challenges. Its location in the city of Brasília and, in particular, at the Fundação de Empreendimentos Científicos e Tecnológicos (Finatec), reveals its vocation to participate in the construction of visions that lead to reimagining cities.

Lab Summary and Main Objectives

The Sustainable Cities of the Future Laboratory is a collaborative initiative focused on sustainable urban development. This initiative brings together global knowledge from various regions, each with unique contextual and scientific experiences. The Lab, established as a collaboration between FINATEC and key researchers from the University of Brasília (Brasília), Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon) and Korea University (Seoul), aims to address challenges faced by cities, communities and companies.

Who We Are

A group of researchers aiming to promote action on the future of cities in the face of sustainability challenges, attracting the participation of other researchers in the areas of urban mobility, sustainability, artificial intelligence, and urban planning.

What we do

The Laboratory offers research, local strategies, development of pilot projects and knowledge transfer through short courses, seminars, workshops and training. In addition, the Laboratory provides advice and monitoring on large projects. The target audience includes cities, governments, local authorities, PT Authorities (PTAs), PT Operators, public and private urban development consortia, electric mobility providers, digital smart city solution providers, sustainable energy providers and TELCOs .
